Come Wright in | DINING ROOM REMODEL

BEFORE

AFTER
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again; Jeff is the most patient man in the world!
If I didn’t have a career working in the apparel industry, there’s no doubt in my mind I’d be working in interiors of some sort. In saying that, poor Jeff gets to take these interior ideas that sprout up more often then not and make them reality. This last year we’ve accomplished a serious face lift to almost our entire main floor. However, our dining room has always been a space I’ve been a little unsure what to do with and for one main reason, a piece of furniture I am in love with that just didn’t fit (antique painted hutch). Oh, and the fact that I absolutely hate painting and have known the yellow walls were in need of disappearing.

Two summers ago I stumbled across two amazing deals at one garage sale. One is the $25 vanity we used in our bathroom remodel HERE and the other was a this $5 fireplace mantel shown above. Yep! I had this mantel stored in our basement for 2 years knowing it was going on a wall somewhere in our house. Our house was built in 1901 with many quirky renovations… basically someone thought it was a good idea to remove the only fireplace in the house. I have never had a place to hang Christmas stockings. I start listening to christmas music before Thanksgiving if that tells you anything.

Question for you visitors…  I’m debating on painting the entire wall on the inside of the fireplace mantel with black chalk board paint. I would keep the hanging blanket where it is and I could use the right side of the blanket wall to write notes on, maybe the menu for the evening or Jeff’s weekend “to do” list aye? Pfff!  Please, let me know your opinion/thoughts.

ABOUT THE BLOG

Wright for Michele is a Portland based lifestyle blog devoted to cultivating stylish, relatable and creative content. It also serves as a personal time capsule of my family’s journeys, giggling and stumbling a bit, through it all.

I started "Wright for Michele" back in 2010 as a creative outlet and to share the things I love (basically the exact same reason the rest of the internet started blogging). Often this blog is about family, sometimes it’s about style, and in general it’s about life and how you (and me) can make every single area in it, better. It’s simple, it’s real (sometimes a little raw and almost always full of grammatical errors), it’s honest and hopefully no matter what it’s a little sweet.
