Thrift shopping can be rewarding and daunting at the same time. It takes patience and lots of time but most well known thrift retailers have done most of the work for you by categorizing product by type, gender and size. Some of my favorite thrift finds are pieces I never knew I needed and don’t know what I’d do without. This grid/check coat found last winter is one of those. The lining needed to be trimmed and hemmed from years of wear but feels brand new to me still. Don’t forget to take the time to look in unexpected places while thrifting. You never know what kind of heavy knit pullover treasures you can find in the men’s or young boy’s sections.

Christmas Trees and Cool Kids

1 2 3 4 5 5b 6 7 8b

We went out and plucked our Christmas trees yesterday with our friends and from the looks of my Facebook and Instagram feed, so did everybody else. It was a perfect day for it and if you did it ‘Wright’ you paired it with a little coffee and a lot of Bailey’s/Kahlua in your cup and an impromptu photo session.
I decorated for Christmas almost 2 weeks ago so our Christmas tree felt right at home wrapped in bright blue twinkles. Christmas music is playing and I’m considering eating pumpkin pie for breakfast.

Travel

Wright this down | Trillium Lake, OR

The Wright family packed the car Sunday for a day trip to Trillium Lake near Government Camp, OR.  The Loop Trail is a 5 miles primarily used for snowshoeing. It was a perfect sun drenched weekend to see the land naked before snow fall. Amazing views of Mount Hood and the trail crosses wetlands for bird watching opportunities. On our way back we drove through Hood River to taste some vino at our favorite wineries, Marchesi and Cathedral Ridge followed by lunch at Double Mountain. Perfect portland/Hood day loop! dsc_0149 dsc_0174 dsc_0181 dsc_0187 dsc_0189 dsc_0197 dsc_0202 dsc_0207

Color Coded

Color Coded | Chalky hues

1 1mood 2 3 7 8 9
Jacket : Whistles
Nailpolish : Green with Envy
Leggings : Femme
Sweater : Cheap Monday

Autumn selection in an earthy palette with flecks of pale muddy rose and some blue. I can’t seem to get away from these dusty, chalky hues mixed with variations of gray similar to a recent color coded post. It’s common to wear black, white and grey during winter so it makes these unexpected sweet tones super interesting. It’s so fresh and it kind of makes me happy when wearing it. While they may have once been strictly associated with spring’s blooming flowers, they are one of this winter’s biggest statement makers. Talk chalk!

Animal On Animal :: Wearing two types of animal prints together isn’t always a good idea, but the secret to making it look modern is to wear one in a realistic print and the other in a more artful, graphic iteration; faux show!

ABOUT THE BLOG

Wright for Michele is a Portland based lifestyle blog devoted to cultivating stylish, relatable and creative content. It also serves as a personal time capsule of my family’s journeys, giggling and stumbling a bit, through it all.

I started "Wright for Michele" back in 2010 as a creative outlet and to share the things I love (basically the exact same reason the rest of the internet started blogging). Often this blog is about family, sometimes it’s about style, and in general it’s about life and how you (and me) can make every single area in it, better. It’s simple, it’s real (sometimes a little raw and almost always full of grammatical errors), it’s honest and hopefully no matter what it’s a little sweet.
