Color Coded | Chalky hues

Jacket : Whistles
Nailpolish : Green with Envy
Leggings : Femme
Sweater : Cheap Monday

Autumn selection in an earthy palette with flecks of pale muddy rose and some blue. I can’t seem to get away from these dusty, chalky hues mixed with variations of gray similar to a recent color coded post. It’s common to wear black, white and grey during winter so it makes these unexpected sweet tones super interesting. It’s so fresh and it kind of makes me happy when wearing it. While they may have once been strictly associated with spring’s blooming flowers, they are one of this winter’s biggest statement makers. Talk chalk!

The scents of Autumn. The cold, crisp air and sweet hot drinks.
The thick cozy layers and.. THE  C O L O R S ! It’s such a magical time of year. When trees bare its adornment; everything gets to start over, cleansing the earth one leaf at a time. Anticipating the celebrations year end brings and Halloween is just the beginning.

Color Coded | Winter pastels

Getting lost in a sea of delicate florals, pastel prints and icy cold crystals.
Pastels do have a place in our cold weather wardrobe rotation. Chalky hues may not be a conventional choice in autumn, but they are a welcome pop amongst the ubiquitous all-black ensembles.

Fall equinox is days away and I want you to be prepared. Being that Emerald is Pantone’s color of the year I thought it would be worthy of some attention. I’ve already seen an enormous amount of emerald colored product sprinkled into the fall marketplace and this is just the beginning. Last fall it was about the oxblood/burgandy tones and this year you’ll see this transitioning into these deep woodsy tones and bright emerald hues.
Also, welcome to WrightforMichele’s newest addition :: Color Coded.
Here I’ll be sharing mood boards, inspiration and color trend information.
I hope you enjoy!

Goal:  live happy. explore daily. work differently.  …and build the color palette while seeking sun and being inspired by the outdoors with no interruptions.

a whole lotta optimism…

Three days of immersing ourselves in outdoor activities while surrounded by color and design inspiration is an incredible and productive way to work. On our trip to Palm Springs we hiked Joshua Tree, Palm Canyon, went on an amazing Architecture Tour and worked the color palette for Spring 2015! Then cheers’d to the end of a rewarding assignment.

Thankful for the awesome experience and to be surrounded by inspiring talent everyday.

Color coded | Three Color Dressing

Try wearing no more than three colors per outfit; excluding tonals of any one of those three colors. This is an easy way to make your look more interesting.

Things to note:
// Black and white are technically shades
You can be more flexible about integrating these into your outfits. For example, you can wear four colors if one of them is white.
// Metal jewelry
Stick to one shade for each outfit, either gold or silver, particularly for chunky jewelry like statement necklaces and watches. I sometimes break this rule because I like mixed metal but I think sticking with one shade helps with simplicity.
//Red lips count!

You don’t have to dress like this all the time but this can be a helpful tip when putting a look together.
Here are some examples of dressing in colors of three:

ABOUT THE BLOG

Wright for Michele is a Portland based lifestyle blog devoted to cultivating stylish, relatable and creative content. It also serves as a personal time capsule of my family’s journeys, giggling and stumbling a bit, through it all.

I started "Wright for Michele" back in 2010 as a creative outlet and to share the things I love (basically the exact same reason the rest of the internet started blogging). Often this blog is about family, sometimes it’s about style, and in general it’s about life and how you (and me) can make every single area in it, better. It’s simple, it’s real (sometimes a little raw and almost always full of grammatical errors), it’s honest and hopefully no matter what it’s a little sweet.
