Good things take time

I have been working my fingers to the bone on executing the first step of a (hopeful) lifetime project/dream of mine, something I’m super passionate about and have been dreaming of since shortly after the girls came into our lives. Every spare moment over the past 6-12 months has been dedicated to this ‘WrightforMichele’ transformation in order to have a clean platform and fresh online design presence for the second phase; the most important part of this project (which no-one will see for some time because I’m a mom, of twins, and work a full timer). So for now, please click and share or say hi as I share my stories and passions along the way.

I couldn’t have done any of this without Elena Watanabe, you’re my hero! She’s quite possibly one of the sweetest humans I know and has taught me so much. Some things I’d rather never knowing about in the web design and blog transfers world… Fun fact, when switching from Blogger to WordPress, photo’s may not transfer correctly. See, you only find these types of things out after you make that change, then google “why the hell are all of my photo’s missing?”. Which left me having to upload every single picture I’ve ever posted on WrightforMichele  All. Over. Again.

I’m celebrating with cheese and wine tonight with my very patient husband Jeff. Thank you for always being my rock, support system, believer, motivator and lover.

xoxo

Portland Design Week | OUTDOOR INSPIRED Creative Showcase

1 2 3 4 5
What happens when Portland Design Week and the creative culture ambassador team within Columbia’s Design organization unite ::
O U T D O O R   I N S P I R E D  Creative Showcase!

The Cultivators are the creative culture ambassador team within Columbia’s Design organization. The mission is to “plant, grow and cultivate a vibrant design culture, so that our internal design, inspiration and work ethic flourishes and overflows into the big wide world.”

Last night the show featured art inspired by the outdoors created by The Cultivator’s talented designers and artists, in a range of mediums to raise funds for Friends of Outdoor School. I feel so fortunate to be surrounded by the most glorious creatives. What an amazing night. On top, my art raised 100 dollar bills for Friends of Outdoor School.

Come Wright in | DIY Mid-Century Pinleg Table

 1 1b 2
I found this cute little drawer table in my usual free, side of the road spot that will remain nameless. Same spot I found this earring holder I DIY’d. It just needed a little cleaning, new knobs and some stems. Extra long stems that is. Not a shocker but I purchased these pin legs off of eBay and had my little handy man put it all together.

Summer 2012 Aunt and Niece DIY art project. Taylor and I had a fun day of tie dying everything cotton in my house and painting all wood scraps all while under the once blazing ball called s u n. Some lacquer, household finds set into the lacquer and booop… free art.

Lookbook | Columbia Sportswear

If you follow me on instagram you probably saw the gobs of grams I posted while on shoot. Styling this women’s lookbook was on the tippy top of my favorites list. This book was created by a small group of creatives in Columbia’s apparel department. The mission was to take a peek into the minds and closets of our Outdoor It Girl. What motivates her and inspires her. A glimpse into her personal style, adventurous attitude and how she puts it all together to pull it off. Finding out what’s in her bag, her favorite place and what she feels when in the outdoors. All of these questions helped build a story around “What Is Feminine”. Here are just a few of the pages from the lookbook but all are inspiring. Fun projects like these are why I love my job.

Big girl camera

I finally got my big girl camera back from the repair shop after 2 months of BS and lots of dollars.

It’s been a crazy week at work for me which means long hours. Something I don’t mind once and awhile; I do love my job and I’m fortunate to be working on creative projects all day. On top of that I have lots of little do-over projects happening on the side and some apparel sewing projects on my to-do list which means more posts to come and even more that are waiting. schwing.

Wright this down | DIY Organic sugar scrub

I have been using this for the past week and my skin has been like wooow! Keep it in your shower and even use it to shave your branches. Just apply and rinse the salt/sugar granules off then shave. The oils are are good for your body inside and out.

Wright this down | DIY friendship bracelets

What you’ll need:

I purchased the friendship bracelets off of Etsy (HERE) because I do not have the patience nor talent to make myself. This seller also uses embroidery floss which makes these extra durable. I purchased the studs from OREGON LEATHER in Portland. You can also find them online HERE. The chain was leftover from a necklace I recycled HERE but you can also find chain online HERE. And lastly the nylon thread was purchased from fabric depot or online HERE which was used to attach the chain.
You can leave the ends of the bracelet the raw edge and tie each end in a knot then tie on your wrist when ready to wear or you can finish the bracelets with hardware. To do this you’ll need some bracelet crimp ends, jump rings and clasps. You can find any of these items at your local bead store or online HERE.

ABOUT THE BLOG

Wright for Michele is a Portland based lifestyle blog devoted to cultivating stylish, relatable and creative content. It also serves as a personal time capsule of my family’s journeys, giggling and stumbling a bit, through it all.

I started "Wright for Michele" back in 2010 as a creative outlet and to share the things I love (basically the exact same reason the rest of the internet started blogging). Often this blog is about family, sometimes it’s about style, and in general it’s about life and how you (and me) can make every single area in it, better. It’s simple, it’s real (sometimes a little raw and almost always full of grammatical errors), it’s honest and hopefully no matter what it’s a little sweet.
