Tartan. Never more perfect than in winter, never more versatile than in 2013. Plaid’s strong presence on the Fall 2013 runways has me celebrating the return of the traditional print… and anyone can wear it. Make your plaid pieces more interesting by pairing them with pinstripes, tweeds, graphic tee’s, or other eye-catching prints for a classic style.

Thrift shopping can be rewarding and daunting at the same time. It takes patience and lots of time but most well known thrift retailers have done most of the work for you by categorizing product by type, gender and size. Some of my favorite thrift finds are pieces I never knew I needed and don’t know what I’d do without. This grid/check coat found last winter is one of those. The lining needed to be trimmed and hemmed from years of wear but feels brand new to me still. Don’t forget to take the time to look in unexpected places while thrifting. You never know what kind of heavy knit pullover treasures you can find in the men’s or young boy’s sections.
